The TRANSITION series concerns movement into and out of space. Turning two-dimensional shapes into three-dimensional depth, the artist pushes and pulls the viewer towards the unknown, titillating the mind’s eye, playing freely with time and position. Bands of flat gradient colour morph into transverse horizons and columnar recessions to provide an invitation to engage, to draw closer yet remain at a distance. What appears as light or shadow is not; they are movements of perception, a reflection of the provisional nature of consciousness. The result is an experience that is coincidingly comforting and mysterious.
